Loving Kindness

While I believe in the concepts of loving kindness and agree completely with the concept, I think that we are limiting the possibilities of the topic by associating it with a god or religion. There is much more to spirituality then a belief in a higher power. And I think that the exercise and CD is leading a participate to have to focus on an outside source rather then looking at aspects of ones everyday life that can be used as inspiration. I think that this a poor song choice as it takes away from the my ability to focus on the exercise. I can barely even hear the women guiding me through the exercise.

A mental work out is an exercise the one does to focus their energies on themselves. To develop a connection with their inner mind, working through the various stages of the psychospiritual flourishing stages.

Some of my classmates talk about their connection to religion and the association of this concept with that. But I am glad to see that I am not the only one that was turned off by the CD.

My well-being

Physical is a 6. I know what I need to do to be physically well. I have a hard time motivating myself to do so. I have a pretty good diet and have gotten back into exercising. I would estimate that within the next few weeks to months, if asked again I would give myself and 8 or a 9.

Spiritually I am an 8. I am not a religious person, but I have a great balance and outlook on life, which for my own life is how I define spirituality. To be this idea is about being open and honest, which I am to a fault.

Psychologically I am a 7. I told everything in not talking too often about what is on my mind. This is the area where I need the most work. I have been trying harder to let other people in and find positive ways to reduce my stress levels.

I think that as a goal I have to exercise more and eat a little better. In doing this I think the other areas, spiritual and psychological will improve. As with most of my plans the way for me to do this is to get my friends and family involved. By having the support of others I tend to have a much higher success rate.

Reflection on relaxation exercise

I have participated in a few of these types of activities over the years. I do find them completely relaxing and something that more people should enjoy. The autogenic training technique is a miracle, the ability to make one's body relax, just by thinking it. I will definitely try and utilize this practice throughout my day. Similar techniques are used in Yoga, using the mind and stretching to relax the body. I try and get to one class per week.

Welcome to my BLOG...

This is a new concept for me, one I have yet to decide if I like. I am not on facebook or any other website where I share information.

I do think that as health and wellness professionals we will need to network as much as possible to stay current with trends, so I am willing to give this a try...
